Simple tricks, Great results! – Generating sales through effective time management.
It is not
so that you always need capital or a degree from a prestigious university in
order to be able to do things that give you a lot of money or in our case
generate more sales. Some times what you only need is a positive attitude towards
things you already have like the God given time. Everyone small or great is
blessed with time but what makes the difference is how each one of us use it. As
entrepreneurs our success is rated by our ability to make use of things that
are already there or simply by being resourceful. Time is one such resource,
precious and none renewable because when lost is never recovered.
Therefore, it
must be carefully managed by developing a habit of following a daily schedule. Developing
a habit takes time but if it will take you the next three to
six months to change some of your poor time management habits in order to
increase your sales wouldn’t that be a good investment? Here are important
principles to consider in creating and following an effective schedule.
The morning routine
What happens to the time you get up to the time its
twelve
o’clock is critical because during this time you are fresh, your
concentration is high and you are at your best. Successful
people you may know
of work the hardest in the morning by
focusing on the most critical tasks during
this period of time.
Waking up early is therefore, recommended because as an
ambitious person you are trying to get the best out of prime
time by extending
its duration. Indeed the morning routine
is
critical to your success because it gets everything started. It
start the
snow ball down the hill, gets the tires rolling on the
road, it gets you moving
forward !
Each second matter
Over night
success is a fallacy. Biz Stone co founder of Twitter once said, “ Timing,
perseverance and ten years of trying will eventually make you look like an over
night success.” Another saying goes, “ Success is the sum of small efforts
repeated day in , day out.” The point to which all this should take us to is
that when it comes to time management success is a product of making the most
out of even the smallest unit of time which is the second. Your efforts in a
second must feed into the minute which in turn feed into the hour, then into
the day, then into the week, the month, the year and so forth. This is how you
can come to what Biz Stone meant when he said, “Timing, perseverance and ten
years of trying will eventually make you look like an over night success.”
Common distractions to be wary of
As we progress
in our great endeavor of developing and following a schedule here are common
distractions to be wary of.
Daily
Newspapers: Daily newspapers can be alarmist, manipulative and manufacture
headlines meant to drive daily sales by tapping into peoples fears and impulse.
Definitely a daily newspaper is the last thing you should read in a day. Sources
of information you should rather prioritize for your reading are subject matter
content like this blog Sunrise Talk – A Weekly digest on sales and entrepreneurship
simply because its content is written after being carefully thought through. Others
are weekly newspapers for the same reasons.
Friends: There is nothing in your life that should
not wait until twelve noon. Friends usually come by for a chat about
sports and issues that do not contribute into what you want
to achieve. Give them their time but they should know that that time isn’t before twelve.
